60 to 70 %of your body weight is water and a slight 2% of dehydration causes discomfort and your cells do not perform their functions efficiently.


Does drinking water help you lose weight?


I would say it supports your body for weight loss. The very intention of drinking water for weight loss is wrong.


Let’s learn how drinking water helps your body to shed that extra pound.

  1. Suppress your appetite- These days we spend most of the time in A/C and do not drink enough water. Our body gives the signal of thirst and hunger in the same way. The body cries for water and we keep on eating, I would say overeating. If you hydrate your body well it will automatically reduce your whole day snacking, eating tits and bits. So, when you hydrate well, you reduce calorie intake and that leads to WEIGHT LOSS.

  2. Enhances your digestion – We are overfeeding our bodies these days. 75% of energy is used for digestion only 25% is left which is not sufficient for all body functions like building and repair in the body and supporting the immune system. When you drink enough water and reduce calorie intake which will happen automatically this will give rest and enough time to your stomach. And thereby, it will do its job efficiently which is digesting your food well.


When you hydrate well, your body will be able to cleanse and detoxify through sweating, softening stools and urination on a regular basis.


Let me tell you most people are not able to lose weight because of the poor GUT HEALTH and DETOXIFICATION process. When you hydrate well you enhance good GUT health and DETOXIFICATION and thereby WEIGHT LOSS.

  1. Helps you exercise better- Slight dehydration can make you feel tired and you can lose your motivation during workouts. Water is also required to dissolve electrolytes like Na, Pt, and Mg and helps distribute throughout the body, enhancing your workout and reducing muscle cramps, aches, and pain during and post-workout.

Water also helps to dissipate the heat during a workout. Dehydration causes muscle cells to go dehydrated and break down protein more quickly and build muscles more slowly.

  1. Water is needed to burn fat through the process of lipolysis. If you are hydrated well, it does fat metabolism efficiently.

  2. Water improves Motivation and reduces stress- When you are dehydrated you feel dizzy, fatigued and confused. Who can make a healthy decision under these conditions? These symptoms affect the motivation to cook food at home, exercise and make better food choices.

Dehydration increases cortisol levels and thereby increases fat accumulation.


Water is required to support each and every cell of your body to function efficiently and when it does so it automatically releases extra fat that is anyhow not natural for the body to store.
